Volunteer Orientation

This is the presentation we will go over for the SRMS volunteer training. Please look through this ahead of time.

Volunteer Handbook

Here is the Okaloosa County handbook for volunteers. These are the Okaloosa County-wide policies.

Mustang Band Volunteer Needs

Football Concessions

Concessions are one of the band’s top fundraisers, and your help makes a big difference! We need about four volunteers for each game. One person picks up pizza, while others handle tasks like making nachos, serving food, working the windows, or running the grill. The concessions chair coordinates with the school bookkeeper and picks up the change fund before 2 PM on game days.

Equipment

This team is responsible for transporting and setting up all necessary equipment: Drum Major podiums, percussion instruments, stands, chairs, and other large items. Equipment committee coordinates volunteers, organize loading and unloading logistics, and ensure everything arrives safely and on time. If you have a truck, trailer hitch, or just a willingness to lend a hand, we’d greatly appreciate your help.

Field Trip Chaperones

Chaperones play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. Whenever the band travels—games, concerts, or trips—we are required to have parent chaperones accompany us. The committee is responsible for organizing and coordinating these volunteers. If you have a medical background, such as being a nurse or healthcare professional, your presence is especially valuable and greatly appreciated!

Fundraising

To run a successful band program is to essentially run a nonprofit organization. We raise money to bring in professional musicians, provide musical opportunities for the students, purchase new music, repair/replace equipment, and ensure that the students are receiving a quality music education.

Photography/Video

Our students and families love looking back on performances and experiences in the form of photos and recordings! If you have a professional camera/recording equipment and are willing to share your services with us, we would love to have you on board! Please upload pictures to a Google Drive or Drop-Box, rather than emailing as separate files.

Uniforms

The way we represent ourselves as Mustangs and as members of the Crestview Band community is paramount. In Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Football Band, most performances will be in the blue SRMS Band polo shirt, black pants, and black/white tennis shoes. However, Symphonic Band uniforms are more formal school-owned uniforms that require an organization system and yearly cleaning, sizing, tailoring.
